Above are my slightly off color colors (the bottom left square is supposed to be black) for hound. I’ve been working on this collection forever, and getting kind of discouraged because it takes SO long when you’re doing everything alone. Today while looking through one of my books (The Entrepreneuer’s Guide to Sew Product Manufacturing : Kathleen Fasanella, best book ever) for a marking technique, I came across this little piece of advice…

“If you think others have a better handle on things, you’re the only one who does. They just fake it better than you and have more money to waste.”

Today was a grey and rainy day, so what better to do than make pumpkin bread. This is not the pumpkin bread, this is the mini pumpkin that is decorating my desk.

This, however is the pumpkin bread, big bread and little bread. I can’t wait to eat you both!

Yesterday I started this little jacket from a Built by Wendy pattern that I bought a long time ago. I found some plaid wool in my fabric box and went at it.

I think the plaids matched up pretty nicely, especially since I decided to cut the front panel on the bias, there was no way to match those plaids the way the pattern was made, so this disguised that nicely. I decided to put the pockets on the bias as well so that it wouldn’t be completly random.

This is what we ate for dinner yesterday, seasoned pork chops, roasted asparagus, rosemary roasted potatoes and cheesecake with fresh berry compote (not pictured). Pretty tasty, Luke especially loved the potatoes, who’s recipe I found by googling “pork chops.” Not bad.

I definitely need to get working on my wardrobe, everything I own is from before I started school for the second time and had a regular job. Boring but good for the clothing purchases. Since I still don’t have any cash, I will have to make/buy on the cheap new items. Wouldn’t this be a cute fall outfit? I think so, the catch is that the only things I can afford in this are the notebooks, mocs, mug (which I already have) and soundtrack (which i also already have). Hahahaha. Go fall.

I never dress up for Halloween, I’m usually sick, so I kind of stopped planning costumes about 7 years ago. Then the other day I got this little halloween tip in the mail, and decided I want to make this cat mask to wear. Maybe with a black dress and tights. Cute? I think so.

Since I am now graduated (again) I have been trying to start a new overall project, which has caused a need for me to finish up some projects I have lying around that were abandoned due to full time school, homework and full time work. Here are a few things that I started a long time ago (pre-columbia era projects) that I finished up this weekend.

I made one of these towels for my friend Paige, then started one for myself and mine was pushed to the side. I bought these towels at Target I believe, then appliqued my name and the cherries on with a blanket stitch. Embroidered leaves and stems finished it off.

This dress was worn to my Abe Lincoln Birthday Party a few years ago, so you might wonder what needed to be done to finish it since I already wore it. Well, many things including, hemming, stitching down the bodice lining and adding buttons. Guess I was in kind of a bind when I made it.

Three cheers for finishing up old stuff!!!

Yesterday my friend Caitlin taught me how to properly scan and correct my negatives, the problem is that these are from toy cameras so correction can be quite subjective. All these photos are from the cabin in Manitowish Waters in the last 2 years. I only got to go up once this summer, so hopefully a fall trip is in order.

so this is awkward, maybe we can just pretend that i’ve been posting regularly for the past 3 years? Does that work for you? I hope so, because I really want to post photos of these amazing mocs I want for fall/winter. Sidenote, mocs are kind of my official shoe, I’m on my 5th pair in as many years, so without further ado…MOCS!!!!!

my first hat

This is the first hat I’ve blocked and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s a sueded rabbit hood with grosgrain headsizing and trim although I may change the trim yet, I’m not 100% sold on the ribbon.

Blocking is a pretty labor intensive process and takes some serious muscle, not to mention the inevitable steam burns and push pin pricks. Oh and the smell of wet rabbits.

I have the same style in grey rabbit velour blocked and drying right now for one of my friends as well as a tiny coctail hat that slightly resembles a tiny bird. I plan to mount that on a little silver headband, très belle! In case you haven’t heard, hats are all the rage!
